Five Simple ways to Increase Patient Referrals

1. Post signs in your office

You can place signs around your office thanking patients for their business and referrals.  This shows your patients that you appreciate them and prompts them to make more referrals to your practice.

2. Send a referral request letter to patients

A more direct way to ask patients for referrals is to send them a letter.  The content could include a note of appreciation for their business, a compliment about how nice it is to have them as patients, and a request for referrals.

3. Ask patients for referrals during office visits

When the timing seems right, ask your patients for referrals.  For instance, if you are meeting with a patient who lets you know how happy they are with your care, you can ask them if they know of others who might be in need of quality care.

4. Connect with community organizations

Contact social service agencies, associations, or other non-profit organizations and offer to give free health screenings or seminars for their employees or members.  This gives you the opportunity to showcase your skills and expertise, which will encourage participants to choose your services.  In addition, you can collect participants contact information for future promotions.

5. Formally thank patients for referrals

A gesture of appreciation goes a long way.  By showing patients that you are thankful for their referrals, you will create a stronger relationship with them and encourage them to make even more referrals.  Something as simple as a thank you card can leave a huge impression on your patients.
